Most enclosures require modifications before they are ready for use. With DigiKey’s streamlined quoting and customization services, it is easy to specify needs and get factory-modified enclosures delivered fast -- ready for prototyping and pre-production needs.

How to Order Modified Products at DigiKey
Step 1: Request a Quote
Find a standard enclosure that can be modified on DigiKey’s website. Use the self-serve Custom Enclosure Configurator or contact the team at modenclosures@digikey.com. Start the process by providing drawings, design specs, and shipping quantity related to the project request (minimum 25 units for modified items).
Step 2: Place an Order
When using the Custom Enclosure Configurator, orders are submitted directly to Hammond for processing and will be assigned a custom part number which can be referenced when placing orders with DigiKey.
Step 3: Design Approval
Hammond will send a drawing (and artwork proof if needed) to ensure specifications are accurate. After drawings are approved, a single sample is shipped for inspection and testing. Once the sample piece is approved, Hammond will proceed with the orders full production.
Step 4: Time to Reorder or Start New
Custom part numbers are saved for future use. To reorder log into your MyDigiKey account and click “re-order.” To start a new project, input the part number in to the Custom Enclosure Configurator.

1551 - Miniature plastic enclosures
Miniature boxes for small electronics. Watertight, flanged, vented, round, snap-fit, USB, and colored plastic versions are available.
1552 - Handheld plastic enclosures
Plastic enclosures with removable end panels ideal for use as handheld devices. Rubberized cord grip, cable tie-down kit, and wall holder available.
1553 - Handheld ABS enclosures
Soft-sided handheld plastic enclosures with removable end panels and battery door options, available in multiple colors.
1554 - Industrial plastic enclosures
Flanged options and inner panels available. Polycarbonate versions are UV stabilized and rated IP68/NEMA 6P. ABS versions are rated IP66.
1556 - General purpose enclosures
Rounded ABS plastic boxes with provisions for wall and desktop mounting.
1557 - Watertight plastic enclosures
Industrial plastic boxes with provisions for wall and desktop mounting. Polycarbonate versions are rated IP68/NEMA 6P. ABS versions are rated IP66.
1591 - Multipurpose ABS enclosures
General purpose ABS boxes with inner slots to serve as guides for cards and boards. Versions with flanged lid or base available.
